Top 4 Things to Check Out in Denver, CO

Denver, Colorado is only about 4 hours away from where I live, so we go up there fairly often.  Lately I’ve been thinking of making a trip up there to have some fun but couldn’t decide what to do.  Denver is growing exponentially and so are the amount of activities. There are really a ton fun things to do in Denver making it sometimes hard to decide.  So I have created a list of the top 4 things to do for your next weekend trip to the Mile High City.

1. Sports Games

Denver has the Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies, and Avalanche, all professional sports teams.  All having different arenas and perks to the  game, so why not go check one out? Even if you’re not a sports person, live professional sporting events are fun.  I love to get into a game, even if I don’t know whats going on.  Join the crowd.  Cheer when they cheer and boo when they boo, if you don’t understand.  I promise you will never have more fun.  So grab your jerseys and come show your rowdy side and support at one of the several pro games Denver has to offer.

2. Elitch Gardens Theme Park

This theme park is not one to pass up.  It is both a water park and amusement park so you have the pick of the liter with rides.  I have personally been going to Elitchs since I was little and still have not rode every ride.  This place is massive with every level of ride. So even if you’re not huge on rollercoasters there are plenty others to choose from.  You can try and conquer both water and land rides.  However, my advice would be go two different days if you really want to experience both sides of the park.  Whether you do both sides or just one make sure you don’t miss out.  This place will have you feeling young at heart again.

3. 16th Street MallIMG_3617.JPG

If you love outdoor shopping areas then you will die for 16th Street in downtown Denver.  This street is always happening.  With numerous clothing shops and outstanding restaurants you wont even have to leave the main strip.  The winters are especially special on 16th street.  They cover the strip in Christmas lights and are giving horse and carriages rides everywhere you look. If you are only in Denver for an evening or day I would recommend this outdoor shopping center.

4. Denver Museum of Nature and ScienceDenver_Museum_of_Nature_and_Science_20-09-2014_10-58-56.JPG

Okay, I know what you’re thinking, its a museum? Yes, it is and I know most are kinda boring but I promise you this one isn’t.  First of all this museum is huge and packed with stuff.  They are constantly changing the main attractions so you most likely wont see the same exhibit twice.  The thing I find really cool about this museum is how interactive it is.  Most of the exhibits have activities you can do, so it keeps you intrigued.  Also a really cool thing about this museum is the theater.  The theater plays both 3D and IMAX films so you get the real life experience with these nature films. denver-planetarium-700x466.jpg

Well there you have it, your weekend breakdown of Denver, Colorado.  These activities are sure to keep you busy for weekend and have a ton of fun doing them.  Even if you don’t do any of these things, I definitely still recommend coming to Denver to check it out yourself.
